An Installation
This is my contribution to the Interdisciplinary Arts End of Semester Show.
It is the physical culmination of my exploration into structural tension between a brash, synthetic-minimalist formalism and inevitable celebration of organic inevitability. It's also just a visually compelling entrance-way into and out of a space. PLUS, it's a personal victory for following through with a piece from conception to actualization, remaining reasonably consistent to my original creative impulse, and completing it in time for the show. ha, the funny part is that accomplishing these goals really is a victory for me!

Recent Investigations Into My Own Utopianism

In moments of dishevelment, I've developed this fantasy of where I'd rather be.
Could this place really happen? Could I make this work?
In conversation about this, it has been suggested that I ask myself 'Why
would I rather be somewhere other than where I am?' I suppose that one value of utopianism, if it is recognized, is that it helps us get an idea of what's making
us settle for daydreams.

An evening of planting seeds, chargings that which must be activated, engaging mechanisms and un-establishing funstion code. Speaking of this and that to whom and whomever, betwitching the goals and slippery seas of all the myriad have-to-bees.

Note of Note:
The Manafest grows in it's immediacy
soon it will overcome the urge to, itself, see
geokinetic overtones for the portal-mind, treasonably;
the children toil, though no less wild be.

this entry is a power point presentation that supplemented a conversation with my professors today concerning the art-making process I have been developing for myself.

I had been approaching the establishment of a generative system for making as a divination of chance, similar to soothsaying and the I-Ching. Such a practice places serendipity in the forefront, the mother of invention.
However, upon reflecting on past experiments I found that pure chance is not the apple of my eye, but the unforeseen fruits of combining that chance with communicative interchange with others. The potential for the spaces between everything else in the world and myself to be charged, to be activated, is where my motivations lie. It is here that the everyday is raised up from the realm of the mundane.
